SBA Loan Maximum Amount: How Much Can You Get?

One of the questions I get asked time and time again is “What is the maximum loan amount I can get with an SBA loan?”

The answer is, “It depends.” Let me explain.

You can have up to $5 million in maximum loan amounts for the SBA 7a loan program. The maximum for an SBA 504 loan is also $5 million. However, because the SBA 504 is really a two-loan process, your first loan (with the bank) can be whatever amount you negotiate with the bank, and your SBA-guaranteed loan (the second loan with the Certified Development Company (CDC)) maxes out at $5 million.

There are ways to get more loan proceeds from the SBA 504 Green program. You can have up to $16.5 million in SBA financing, with $5.5 million max per loan.

On an SBA 7(a) loan, you can pair it with a conventional commercial loan to get more loan proceeds.
