CEO of Real Estate Brokerage Brown Harris Stevens – Bess Freedman [an Unbelievable Thought Leader]

Today’s episode features Bess Freedman, CEO of real estate brokerage, Brown Harris Stevens.

As one of the most-trusted names in real estate (specializing in the challenging New York real estate market), Bess Freedman has appeared on thousands of media channels talking about real estate.

She is the first CEO of Brown Harris Stevens in their 150 year history.

Bess is a strong proponent in the values of self-belief, discipline, and passion.

A wanna-be lawyer as a kid, Bess always wanted to be a voice for people. She achieved that – as a prosecutor and legal aid lawyer. After becoming a mother, however, her mind swayed into real estate as she saw the freedom that the profession offered.

She was also attracted to the idea of having your own work hours, the entrepreneur-like work schedule and responsibilities that came with it, and being able to do a good job by showing up skillfully. Having learned meditation in the past, she was also adept at navigating through people’s emotions and needs – a skill that came in handy in her real estate career later on. All of it eventually set her on the path for another outstanding career in real estate – from Attorney to Executive Vice President to now CEO of one of the most respected real estate firms in the United States, if not the world.

Today’s episode features Bess’ journey and the lessons from her incredibly rewarding career. You’ll learn the recipe to excellent agent skills; using technology to level up your career; the importance of being fluent with your inventory; mentorship, discipline, punctuality as keys to success; and much more.

One valuable takeaway (of many – watch this episode a few times) – The importance of never doubting yourself, of believing in yourself and your abilities. Bess believed that although she wasn’t the smartest person in the room, she knew she had it in her to create her own path, and she knew she would do it regardless of the challenges that came her way.
